The Woodcock Inn
Our local Inn, one mile up the lane, best to have a torch and high viz if walking back in the evening as there is not a pavement. Can pop in for a drink but you must pre book if you wish to dine as it's a tiny place with a garden , very popular and privately owned .

The Milk House 12 minutes drive 5 miles
Popular village Inn providing bar food and a bookable restaurant and large garden with summer pizza on offer cooked in a proper clay oven for those balmy summer evenings. If you haven't booked , the bar is a good option.

The White Dog (16 minutes drive 6 miles)
Ewehurst village pub, customer and dog friendly bar, fabulous views over towards Bodiam Castle from the garden and good vitals. Very busy on a sunny day so book to avoid dissappointment.

The Three Chimneys (15 minutes drive 7.6 miles)
Famous old pub that if you mention you have visited the gardens of Sissinghurst the next question is "did you go to TheThree Chimneys".
Deceptively larger than you expect and at least a glass of ale should be consumed.
Hareplain Rd, Biddenden, Ashford TN27 8L
The Woolpack Inn (30 minutes drive 13 miles)
Food oriented, lovely old pub comfortably bought into our time with some quirky additions. Good beer and good vitals and a cracking Sunday lunch, allow an hour and a half to walk there along the Military canal from Appledorne or drive in 30 mins (13miles)
Church Lane Warehorne, Ashford TN26 2LL
Landgate Bistro (30min drive 12 miles)
Unusual these days to find such pride and effort combined with good service, offering a small menu of well prepared food. Personally I want better than I can have at home and this little bistro hits that spot. Each dish is considered, well prepared and delightfully presented, good wine list and if you can it's worth leaving room for cheese
The bill will be high but effort costs money and the value is there.
5/6 Landgate,Rye, East Sussex TN31 7LH
The Globe Inn ( 30 minutes 12 miles)
An Inn without a counter, more of a display of scrumptious delights tempting you before you have even got the menu. Can only book if large numbers so either be patient or go early or late, worth the wait.
10 Military Rd, Rye TN31 7NX
The Standard Inn (30 minutes 12 miles)
Easily miss this charming little Inn as you walk down Rye high street, smallbut tasty menu, not possible to book, pot luck but usually do not have to wait too long for a table, sensibly priced.
The Mint, Rye TN31 7EN
Kitsul Sushi (40 minutes drive, 20 miles )
If your in Tunbridge Wells, a sushi lovers dream, with plenty of sides, pork noodles and tempura and much much more, you will be floored for choice.
It's little more than a cafe, with formica tables but if you don't book you won't get in.
You can park in the multistorey opposite and as they do not have a liquor licence pop around to Tesco and treat yourself to a decent bottle of something chilled to wash it down.
Very good quality and great value for money!
Ps: You can only pay with cash!
